Three years ago I wrote a track called 'Waiting' (ashergraiegmorrison.bandcamp.com/track/waiting). This was about a season of expectation, mainly centred around the birth of our first child. The piece used a sample of her heartbeat, from before she was born, as part of the opening of the track. It was slow and atmospheric, borrowing some post-rock elements from favourite artists like 'This Will Destroy You', as I encouraged myself to be patient.

Three years on I now sit here awaiting the birth of our second child. I had sampled this new baby's heartbeat twice, not knowing if I would have the time or inspiration to do anything with it. However, as you can see, I did.

Compositionally, this piece is very different than the last in many ways. This could be a musical reflection on the busier season in which I find myself, or it could be that I've been listening to a lot of M|O|O|N lately and dig my OP-Z. Either way I wait expectantly, and pray with a kind of nervous energy.
