I was given a whole bunch of 2nd hand C90's recently, and I like making things, so I thought I'd dub a few copies of this new EP. I will make more as more are bought, hence no quantity beside this merch listing. Each one is unique as I'm using whatever card and paper I can find to put these together. Both sides of the tape have the same thing on them, and there is 15 mins of silence at the end of each side.

The days are pretty long at the moment. As a parent you feel the siren pull to reduce all your commitments to the bare essentials. I think Andy Crouch said in his book ’The Tech-wise Family’, that demonstrating skills in the home gives your children a better idea of what you do - that there is something to admire and aim for. Otherwise they never see you doing anything ‘other’ that what adults typically do - going to a weird place called work and doing chores around the home. This is not to belittle the ‘mundane’, I more mean that life at home should mirror the variety of what it means to be human. I have endeavoured, since becoming a father, to make things, and let my kids see me try and fail. Sometimes I can include them directly (see various my #jamuary series) or indirectly (this EP). So maybe that is why I still make things even when the washing needs to be put on (and I have nothing against washing clothes - listen to track 4).
Perhaps this description is unnecessary - does the act of creation need a justification in God’s kingdom? I do not know why I’ve been recording this music, only that making something at the end of a big day can be cathartic (though I am not trying to convey anger) and a very good way of focusing wholly on something else. Flow is also a wonderful thing to experience when your day has been filled with a lot of multitasking.
Am I overthinking a noise EP - probably. Explaining what I mean with words is hard, which is probably why I write instrumental music. Just listen - it might make sense.
Designed to mirror the reverence of meditative spaces, the gentle ambient tracks on the new LP from Alejandro Morse envelop you. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 8, 2022
