As I have been reflecting upon what to name this track, and why I wrote this piece at this time, I realised that a lot of it centred around waiting. Waiting for the birth of our child, waiting for rest, waiting for resolution, and waiting for change. Unfortunately I have not been very patient as I wait, and this piece is probably reflective of how I have felt at various times throughout this year.

The genesis of this track, though, was our unborn child's heartbeat. At first I thought I could turn it into a percussive track, but that felt like it didn't necessarily reflect the sentiment I was feeling. I wanted to convey the steady, gentle pulse that we were hearing each time we visited the hospital. In the end, the sample you hear is a tape loop I made of the heartbeat, passed through various effects pedals.

And so ...

May the child arrive safely, may the rest come to those who need it, may resolution come to problems we face, and may change come in places that desperately need it. Amen.
